Biography

As one of the partners of Şengün & Partners, Erkin Pekçetin practices M&A, provides consultancy on investment and finance projects and advises Start-Up companies. Pekçetin, received his master’s degree on banking and insurance law and also on international trade and finance law. He wrote his master’s thesis on the issue of "Condition of Credit Insurance and MIGA in Turkey".

In addition, Pekçetin provides consultancy to large funds in the field of investment and finance law and is involved in the negotiation, financing and closure phases of energy and infrastructure projects. Erkin Pekçetin worked as the chief legal counsel of one of the Ro-Ro companies with the largest fleet in the world. Moreover, he was also the chief legal counsel within a company which is in leading position in the field of media and satellite broadcasting services. Today, he continues to provide consultancy in the field of financing of leading venture capital investment projects which are controlled by Board of Capital Markets and in the issues of analyzing legal risks and building investment strategies of Start-Up projects. Pekçetin offers consultancy and project management services as the vice chairman of the board of a holding whose main area of activity is real estate development and energy in Turkey and abroad.

Erkin Pekçetin, who is also a trademark attorney, has extensive experience in the field of intellectual property law. In addition, he is experienced in alternative dispute resolutions and has served as a senior consultant in the field of arbitration. He also holds a mediation certificate.

Experience:
  • Management of legal and administrative procedures of sales and public offering processes of mutual funds,
  • Mentoring and providing legal services for the Board of Directors on carrying out the processes, analyzing legal risk and building investment strategies regarding Start-Up companies and SME projects which are related to the Board of Capital Markets approved investments of the techno-venture funds,
  • Execution of Chief Legal Counsel ("CLO") and Regulatory Compliance Advisor positions in one of the leading Ro-Ro transportation companies,
  • Analyzing the commercial and legal risks related to the commercial activities of the companies which he provides consultancy and making strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors,
  • Managing company on mergers and acquisitions within the scope of domestic and foreign investments and managing of the legal aspects and partnership processes of port investment,
  • Establishing the necessary legal infrastructure and proposing commercial models for risk management in order to help the companies to carry out its activities with a sustainable efficiency,
  • Consulting the companies on their daily activities regarding the changes in the legislation,
  • Negotiation and closure of loan agreements with relevant domestic and international financial institutions,
  • Actively conducting the legal and commercial risk management of the companies with protective measures and regularly informing the senior management in order to contribute to the risk awareness of the management,
  • Managerial and legal consultancy in the development and sales process of energy projects and establishing financing models,
  • Providing consultancy services to media and internet companies on contracts,
  • Determining and managing litigation strategies for the protection of the commercial and intellectual property rights of the company,
  • Conducting relations with administrations regarding the activities of the companies.
